25 Of The Most Ridiculously Expensive Paintings In History

The most expensive paintings in the world are usually housed in the galleries and museums of Europe and the United States. These paintings are so valuable that art enthusiasts are willing to spend millions when they get auctioned off. More often than not, the value of a painting depends on its age and the artist behind it. Some paintings may look too ordinary for the eyes but cost millions just because they are painted by world-renowned artists like Vincent Van Gogh or Pablo Picasso. Here is a list of the 25 most ridiculously expensive arts and paintings in history:

  1. There are too many super rich retards out there. Some of these you can see the talent, others are garbage. Jackson Pollock had zero talent and was known as the dripper. He held cans of paint and dripped it all over the canvas. A monkey could do it. Honestly all the money wasted on many of these pieces of crap could probably feed, clothe, and provide shelter for all the homeless in this country. And fyi I know more about art history than most.

  2. None of these are a reflection in art. They show how highly competitive mega wealthy capitalist are willing to go to any lengths, no expense spared, to out do each other. These become investments. The Saudi's are buying up art to create a world class art museum.

  3. Some of the info. provided is inaccurate (saying only one Van Gogh self-portrait survived??? There are over 30 of them) and the narrator's fumbling mispronunciation of French names and words is pretty bad. I mean, it's not that he needs to have a mastery or even basic knowledge of the language to say the words with a little more accuracy, it's like he has never heard the correct pronunciation before and is just guessing. The video is not very informative (and could have been done in a much more interesting way) and even the sound of the narration is just dull.

  5. his last name wasn't Gogh, it was Van Gogh. Joan Whitney Payson has the only Payson Art Gallery here in Portland Maine and I had a piece of artwork on display years ago at the same Museum. it was really neat to be featured in a real Museum. 🙂

  7. I think someone who is making a video about 'facts' should at least research the facts beforehand. Really, JASON Pollock? And you could not have researched a bit more those artists names and works of art names you keep butchering? ugh..

  8. I went to the exhibition of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" in Tokyo when a Japanese insurance company bought it for 40 million dollars in 1987. The company built a small museum around the famous painting but, since there was only one piece to show, they filled the empty walls with dozens of photographs of sunflowers from various countries. It was the weirdest art show I had ever been. lol
