Vincent Van Gogh died at age 37. Willem Dafoe is currently 63.
Tim Roth was 30 in Robert Altmans production "Vincent and Theo", and Kirk Douglas was 40 when "Lust for Life" was released.

He is almost twice Van Goghs age, doesn't resemble Van Gogh one bit and the film had mixed reviews! I like Defoe as well…! Just my opinion…
this is a great film, the kind of film that transforms your thinking and you find yourself haunted by its observations much much later
